Steve Levine

Chief Development Officer

Steve is very excited to join Friends of Givat Haviva as Chief Development Officer.  He brings a wealth of experience gained from working in the corporate world as well as serving both as a volunteer and in staff roles at prominent nonprofits.

Raised just north of New York City in Westchester County, Steve received his Bachelor of Arts Degrees in Political Science and History and a Certificate Degree in Judaic Studies from Binghamton University.  As part of his studies, he interned for a United States Congressman in Washington, D.C. where he managed Israeli relations and maintained connections with the local Jewish communities.

Following one too many snowstorms, Steve headed south to live in Atlanta, Georgia, where he served as Information Officer at the Consulate General of Israel.   His position allowed him to interact with Jewish Federations and communities throughout the Southeast in a public relations capacity.  From there, he went on to receive his Master of Business Administration (MBA) from Goizueta Business School at Emory University.

Professionally Steve was Director of Business Development at Staples pursuing new customers for the office supply company in the corporate, higher education, state government and K-12 markets.  He was twice named National Salesperson of the Year and served on the Sales Excellence Council for nine years in a row. During Covid he joined the American Red Cross where he was Senior Director of Business Development for the Southeast/Caribbean Division.  For his success Steve was honored to receive the National Business Development Director of the Year award.

Throughout his career, he has always maintained deep and long-standing ties to the Jewish community.  Steve was honored to serve as first a Board Member and then President of Hillels of Georgia, as a Member of the Board of Trustees of the Jewish Federation of Greater Atlanta, Vice President for Fundraising at Florida State University Hillel, and as a Member of the Advisory Board for jscreen learning about Jewish genetics through the Marcus Foundation.

What draws him most to the Friends of Givat Haviva opportunity is the organization’s alignment with his values. Steve shares FOGH’s bold commitment to innovation, community, and its groundbreaking work in building a shared society among Jewish and Arab citizens in Israel.

In his spare time, he enjoys attending Jewish cultural events, traveling, taking long power walks, cooking, doing crossword puzzles, following SEC college football (GO DAWGS!), and attempting to do the daily Wordle.  Steve is married to Laura, a retired teacher at the Epstein Solomon Schechter School.  They reside in suburban Atlanta and have two grown children, Jordana who lives in Brooklyn, New York and Josh in midtown Atlanta as well as a four-year-old petite golden doodle dog named Daisy.
